Ceaseless Trust - Symphony


This is a very special composition to me. It's dedicated to my mum. My mum died, or as we say in the Salvation Army, was "Promoted to Glory" on August 28, 2020 at the age of 67. Unfortunately she lost the fight against cancer.


In the months after her death I felt the need to write a piece which includes her two favourite songs. My mum loved music as she played flute and piano. She also played Tenor horn for years in the Salvation Army Band of her hometown Deventer.

The songs I used in this piece are “It is well with my soul” and “God, we will give You glory”.

My mum had a “Ceaseless Trust” in God and knew, that despite she would die, she was save in the hands of God. She was grateful for her life. She lived it to the full and was a fantastic wife, mother (in-law) and beloved grandma. My mum wasn't scared to die as she said: “It is well with my soul”.

This piece is originally written for Brass Band in 2020 en rescored for Symphony Orchestra in 2021.
